Unnatural shadows coalesce as a result of the darkness spell. It can either be
cast on an object or in a room. When cast on an object, the object absorbs the
light in the surrounding area, attempting to plunge it into darkness. Similarly,
when cast in a room, that room will grow dimmer.  The Light spell may act as a
counter and darkvision allows the user to pierce even magical darkness.
