• Syntax: apply <spike> [shield]
Shield spikes are vicious attachments that can be affixed to shields to
damage attackers when you successfully block their attacks.

If no shield is specified, the spike will be applied to your currently
equipped shield.

Each shield spike has three properties:

Damage Dice: The damage dealt on each successful shield block (e.g., 3d6
   means rolling three six-sided dice).

Number of Blocks: How many successful blocks the spike will last for
before it shatters from the force of combat.

When you successfully block an attack with a spiked shield, the attacker
takes the spike's damage. A warning message will appear when only three
blocks remain, and a final message will notify you when the spike is
depleted.

Unlike weapon maintenance kits, shield spikes are consumed when applied
and cannot be removed. If you apply a new spike to an already-spiked shield,
the old spike is removed first.

You can examine a shield to see if it currently has a spike attached and
how many blocks remain.
