Tension

Tension is the measure of how tightly the weave is drawn against you -
and you choose the drawing. When a Fated life begins you may tie KNOTS
into your thread: each knot is a rule the loom holds you to for that
whole life, and each carries a weight. Your net Tension is the total
weight of your knots minus your loom burden (see KNOTS).

Tension multiplies the essence your climbs are worth (see WOVEN), and
the best net Tension at which you complete a climb is your mark on the
season - titles and trophies key off it. Knots are immutable once the
thread is spun; death or ascension unties them, and the next life ties
its own. A life with no knots is played at Tension 0: the full game,
one climb's pay, no rank.

The `season' and `knots' commands list every rule currently binding
you. A rule is never discovered mid-fight.
